COMMON COMPONENTS WE BUILD FOR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

At Illinois Pulley & Gear, we proudly serve clients in a wide range of different industries, with medical equipment manufacturers being chief among them. Our expertise lies in the meticulous construction of a range of essential components, including precisely crafted flanges, meticulously designed timing pulley stock, and specialized pulley replacement parts. With an unwavering commitment to quality and precision, we strive to provide indispensable support to the critical operations of the medical equipment sector.

TIMING PULLEYS

Especially when it comes to medical equipment, we understand that our clients often have very specific – and essential – needs.

Pitch, the total number of teeth, and bore size – these are all factors that must be carefully considered about timing pulleys. The same is true of the keyway, set screws, lightning holes, timing marks, and more.

Illinois Pulley & Gear refuses to force you into a “one size fits all” box that doesn’t exist. When you purchase from us, we want you to be able to rest easy knowing that you have the custom solution you need to successfully tackle any challenge that is in front of you.

PULLEY REPLACEMENT PARTS

Generally speaking, pulleys are the workhorses of the manufacturing world. With proper care and maintenance, they can go a surprisingly long time without experiencing any type of significant issue at all. Because of that, finding the right pulley replacement parts can be difficult.

Sometimes, the original equipment manufacturer has gone out of business – taking all their first-party stock along with them. In many situations, the item that you’re looking for is just too old and is no longer being manufactured. Thankfully, these aren’t issues you have to spend time worrying about any longer because Illinois Pulley & Gear has a solution for all of them.

All you need to do is send us the part in question and we’ll take care of the rest. We can reverse-engineer the product in not months or weeks, but days. This is true even in those situations where you may not have the equipment’s original documentation any longer, or when you’re not even quite sure what you have.

Our experts can manufacture custom timing pulleys from a range of materials, including ones like:

Aluminum — Stainless Steel — Steel — Plastics

All our pulleys are made-to-order, so they can be manufactured in any bore size, with any number of teeth, and with other specific characteristics that you require.

TIMING PULLEY STOCK

Since our inception, Illinois Pulley & Gear has always made it a point of pride that all our timing pulley stock for medical equipment is made on demand. Once we know your exact specifications, we’ll get to work on creating exactly what you need. It doesn’t matter if you need timing pulley stock in plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, or some other type of material. Even if you’re working with a unique grade of material that isn’t widely available we have the solution you can depend on.

Because everything is manufactured in-house at our very own facility in Schaumburg, we can promise exceptional results and a very fast turnaround time. We know that our medical equipment clients are often in need of immediate, specific solutions. That’s precisely what we’re honored for the opportunity to provide for you.

FLANGES

As is true with everything we do at Illinois Pulley & Gear, our innovative flanging process is designed to result in only the highest quality product, no matter what. Pulley motion cannot stop under any circumstances. Doing so would not only cause unexpected periods of downtime, but it can also lead to significant cost overruns (and potentially reputational damage) as well.

Because of that, we employ a few different methods depending on the needs of the project. They include ones like:

  • Roll staking. This is ideal for situations where flanges need to be attached to smaller timing pulleys. Here, a crimp is produced 100% of the way around the edge of the flange. This is as opposed to the six or eight points, which are customary with other methods.
  • Heat shrinking. If you’re dealing with a heavy, large-diameter flange, heat shrinking is the perfect way to hold things in place permanently. The flange itself is heated to 450 degrees, at which point it is moved into place and then allowed to cool.
  • Bolt-on flanges. Many consider this to be the “ultimate option” thanks to the fact that it uses the heaviest and most rugged flanges that are available. Everything is held into place with flat-head screws. Not only does this keep things secure, but it also makes it easy to remove a flange should maintenance need to be performed on the belt.

If you’re not sure which option is best for you, don’t worry – we’re here to help. One of our team members will take the time to learn about your equipment and your unique needs, all so that we can help you make the best decision possible, no matter what.
